Volodymyr Rybak: development of strategic partnership relations with Poland is one of the key priorities of foreign policy of Ukraine.
The
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak said this during the
meeting with Marshal of the Senate of the Republic
of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz and
Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of
Poland Ewa Kopacz in Warsaw on Monday. Volodymyr Rybak stated that for the past few years the bilateral political dialogue is very active and aims at reaching specific results. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said that Ukrainian-Polish relations are marked with high level of trust, pragmatism and fruitfulness. He expressed conviction that they will further develop and deepen.
The Chairman of the Parliament appreciated stability of Ukrainian-Polish trade-economic cooperation, noting that Poland is the biggest trade partner of Ukraine in the Central and Eastern Europe.
“We take
moves to establish favorable business environment through deregulation and
simplification of customs and tax procedures and establishment of effective
mechanisms to fight corruption. Improvement of the investment climate is one of
the key tasks of the Government of Ukraine, as of today,” noted Volodymyr
Rybak. Volodymyr Rybak expressed readiness of the Ukrainian Party to discuss the state of preparation of a monograph on joint history of the peoples of Rzeczpospolita. “In due time, we have supported the initiative of the Polish Party to prepare historical works and we will do our best to give this process the respective impetus,” he said.
The Parties discussed the issue of commemorating the “Volyn massacre” and restoring historical truth without politicizing the issue.
Volodymyr Rybak stressed that the Parliaments should make every effort to avoid politicizing of any issues pertaining to the “Volyn massacre”. He said that establishing the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation would be a signal for the Parties.
“I know that the joint draft statement on establishing the “Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation of Ukrainians and Poles” was referred for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada to the Polish Party,” said Volodymyr Rybak. He addressed Polish colleagues with a request to support this initiative which, according to him, would allow avoid politicizing of reconciliation and unification process and shall be a kind of a guideline for the societies of both countries.
Today, the
members of Ukrainian delegation, members of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly
led by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada participated in the flower laying
ceremony to the monument of Taras Shevchenko, to the memorial plaque to the
deputies of the II Rzechpospolita, to the victims of the World War II
(1939-1945), and to the deputies and senators who died in Smolensk plane crash
of 10.04.2010.
